His scope of work spans from working with mainstream school-going age kids to children with Hearing Impairment, Dyslexia, Attention Deficient Hyperactive Disorder, Autism and other learning differences. Currently, he is pursuing his second Masters in Special Needs from Nanyang Technological University.
In enhancing his skills to deal with children’s cognitive development and acquiring techniques to be a sensitive caregiver, Gregory has sought training at the various learning centers like the International Center for the Enhancement of Learning Potential (Israel), the Baker Center of Research and Treatment of Children with Special Needs at Bar-Ilan University (Israel) in Early Intervention and the International Center for Mediated Learning (USA) in areas like Dynamic Assessment and Teachers as Mediators.
He has been the Supervising Mentor to the Special Needs Officers (now call the Allied Educators) since the National Institute Education launched its Diploma in Special Needs Education in 2005.
Gregory holds Diplomas in Dyslexia Studies and Teaching and Training offered by the Cambridge University UK. He is also trained in the Orton Gillingham Approach to deal with Oracy, Literacy and Language. With this approach, his clients acquire their learning skills effectively through the visual, auditory, kinesthetic and tactile manner as opposed to the traditional chalk and talk method.
From the experience point of view, he has taken up roles like being an Education Advisor in Teachers' Training as well as a Curriculum Design in programmes like Writing Skills (Preschool, Primary and Secondary), Comprehension and Oracy. Separately, Gregory is particularly interested in helping children with social integration challenges so to help them embark onto a path of self discovery and social awareness, one that will ultimately bring them to meaningful friendships, shared emotions and heartfelt connection with people in their lives. In addition, he coaches children with numeracy issues, specially primary school students who are either the U Graders, or studying in the Foundation Level in the MOE system.
As a forward-looking practitioner, he uses Solution Focused Counseling in areas like children counseling, as well as helping adult clients take ownership of their problems so as to move forward with their lives. He is also a Certified Solution-Focused Brief Therapist.
A very pro-family person, Gregory loves to spend time with his 3 boys, and never forgets his love for the mountain trekking and outdoor activities |
