Social Thinking Workshop
A 90-min mini workshop with Q&A.
What is Social Thinking & how would it benefits my child?
Social thinking is the ability to take perspectives. Successful social thinkers are able to consider the points of view, emotions, thoughts, beliefs, prior knowledge and intentions of others. It is important as it supports our ability to relate in the world.
Social thinking would help your children who struggle with perspective taking to develop a deeper understanding of how the social world works, and why specific social skills are important in differing contexts. This is not something they acquire intuitively like their neurotypical (so called normal-thinking) peers. We have to teach them cognitively how to think socially while most of their peers learn to do this without having to think about it!
